The long awaited moment is here. The new version of ExpressionEngine has been released. Expression Engine 2.1 has been released, and is now officially out of public beta. EllisLab has announced that ExpressionEngine 1.x will no longer be available for purchase, although it will continue to be supported. We will continue to support the many sites we've developed on EE 1.x, but going forward in new implementations, will be shifting to developing in EE2 in most cases. As mentioned in the EllisLab's official blog post re: the release, many third party add-ons may not be EE2 compliant yet. We will be watching for updates, and should be able to answer any questions re: updating to EE2, should any clients want to. Many of the modules that we use on a regular basis are already available on EE2, or the developers are working on migrating the code. When considering a new implementation, we will continue to work with our clients to determine what functionality they need, and assess if EE1 or EE2 is the best starting point.
